Chinking is best described as the material that is placed between your logs after they have been stacked. It is typically designed to stand out from your wood and adds a barrier between the inside of your home and the elements on the outside. Chinking can be applied on the interior, exterior or both sides of your home. It is applied in widths that range from 3/4'' up to 6''. The installation of backer rod is important prior to the application of chinking as this allows the material greater flexibility which is important as your logs expand and contract.
